Installation technology and operating procedures of pneumatic control valve

1 Observe the correct installation technology

always follow the installation instructions and precautions of the control valve (regulating valve) manufacturer. Here is a brief summary of typical installation instructions

2. Read the operation manual

before installing the valve, read the instruction manual first. The instruction manual introduces the product and the safety precautions and preventive measures that should be paid attention to before and during installation. Following the instructions in the manual will help ensure easy and successful installation

3. Confirm that the pipeline is clean

foreign matters in the pipeline may damage the sealing surface of the valve or even hinder the movement of the valve core, ball or butterfly plate, causing the valve to not close correctly. In order to reduce the possibility of dangerous situations, it is necessary to clean all pipelines before installing valves. Confirm that the pipe dirt, metal debris, welding slag and other foreign matters have been removed. In addition, check the pipe flange to ensure that there is a smooth gasket surface. If the valve has threaded connection end, apply high-grade pipe sealant on the male thread of the pipe. Do not apply sealant on the threads that indicate that the test report issued by Jinmin laboratory is authoritative and credible, because the excess sealant on the female threads will be squeezed into the valve body. Excess sealant will cause blockage of the valve core or accumulation of dirt, which will cause the valve to fail to close normally. Fluorine lined butterfly valve

4 Check the control valve (regulating valve)

although the valve manufacturers will take some steps to prevent transportation damage, such damage is still possible and can be found and reported before installation

do not install valves that have been known to be damaged during transportation and storage. Before installation, check and remove all transportation stops, protective plugs or covers on the gasket surface, and check the inside of the valve body to ensure that there are no foreign matters

5. With its environmental protection benefits of 10 points, it is significant to use good pipe connection practice

after most control products are successfully launched, the valve (regulating valve) can be installed in any position. However, the most common method is to place the actuator vertically and on the upper part of the valve. If the horizontal installation of the actuator is necessary, consider adding an additional vertical support to the actuator as considered by Linko. Ensure that the valve body is installed in such a way that the fluid flow direction is consistent with the direction indicated by the flow arrow or the instruction manual

6. Ensure that there is enough space above and below the valve to easily disassemble the actuator or valve element during inspection and maintenance. The space distance can usually be found on the outline dimension drawing approved by the valve manufacturer. For flange connected valve bodies, ensure that the flange faces are accurately aligned so that the gasket surfaces are in uniform contact. After the flange is aligned, tighten the bolts gently, and finally tighten these bolts in a staggered manner

proper tightening can avoid uneven gasket load, help to prevent leakage, and also help to avoid the possibility of flange damage or even cracking. When the connecting flange and valve flange are made of different materials, this preventive measure is particularly important

the impulse piping installed upstream and downstream of the control valve (regulating valve) is helpful to check the flow or pressure drop. Connect the impulse pipe to the straight pipe section away from the elbow, reducing or expanding. This position minimizes inaccuracy due to fluid turbulence. Connect the pressure connection on the actuator to the controller with 1/4 or 3/8 inch (mm) pipe. Keep a short connection distance, and try to reduce the number of pipe fittings and elbows to reduce the system time lag. If the distance must be very long, a positioner or supercharger can be used on the control valve (regulating valve)
